Honor Your Parents?!

Honoring your parents is not easy or simple.  This is an alert for Now and Future for someone.

Some of you were born into a family with wicked parents by default. They had a hard life and are struggling. They are not healed, never been held accountable or gotten the deliverance, and restored health they need. They are dealing with mental health issues, and/or are broken, lost and haven’t gotten their footing on the right path.
Some parents are downright, evil. They are unapologetic of their actions behavior, and do not have the capacity for compassion, love, empathy; and lack to give you what you desire. Because, they were never given this as a child. This does not condone their behavior. You do not need to accept this behavior. It is healthiest to not even take it personal. Wisdom is needed! You can create boundaries, set expectations, and sometimes walk away for a season. That’s if you’re an adult.

Here’s what you can’t do.

My Bible says: Love at all times. Proverbs 17:17. This can be hard work at times. God hears your cries. But if you’re working with the Holy Spirit, God will give you the strength.

Psalms 28:7
The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.

God will give you the strength. You need to trust him in the process. God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit is your Heavenly Father. He is your helper at all times. Rely on, lean in, cling to Jesus. He the author and finisher of your faith.

Here’s what you can’t do.

You cannot hold a grudges, hate them, gossip, lie, and miss treat them; or even cause evil to them, and hold on to  unforgiveness. This is poison to your body. It’s you hoping something goes wrong for them, yet you’re dying of this poison.

The Bible says: Pray, and I say it again PRAY, without ceasing.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-23 Pray for your parents. Don’t give into your feelings. You feeling can deceive you. For the heart is deceitful above all else. Jeremiah 17:9  But Pray! – Philippians 4:6 – Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

If you are a child, and are under the age of 18, then you must obey your parents and seek counsel. Colossians 3:20 – says, Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord.

And if you are an adult, you are to honor your mother and father. Exd. 20:12 Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the LORD your God is giving you.

Hold up, let’s take a pause, right here. It’s something you must do with God’s guidance of what that means for your situation. Some of you will need to search out false obligations and false loyalties. Keeping mind; wrongs that you have endured; the miss treatment, the wickedness, the abandonment, the violations and harm you have overcome. I say, overcome because you are still here. And God has a plan for your life.  I know that honoring your parents is not easy or simple. In some situations your parents may not be able to give you only what God can give you. And you must learn who your Heavenly Father is and identify your life to the perfection of your father in heaven, through the Cross of Jesus Christ. Your identity is in Jesus Christ your father.

Here’s what you can do.
Do what you need to do to keep yourself safe, protected, and at peace. Most of all forgive them. The Bible says to forgive 70 X 7. You do the numbers.

Matthew 18:2-22 Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times?
Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.

Ephesians 4:32 Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.

Luke 6:32 Do not judge others, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn others, or it will all come back against you. Forgive others, and you will be forgiven.

Navigating as God leads. God knows what honor look like for YOU.
